Bethlehem Lutheran WOMEN OF THE ELCA (WELCA)

“As a community of women created in the image of God, called to discipleship in Jesus Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to grow in faith, affirm our gifts, support one another in our callings, engage in ministry and action, and promote healing and wholeness in the church, the society, and the world.

The women of Bethlehem are a very active group of women meeting three times a year – Guest Night is held in May, Annual Meeting and Thankoffering is in November, and a Christmas Brunch is held in December.

We have a spring fundraiser and our annual breakfast bazaar in October.

Throughout the year we serve soup suppers, funerals, and other functions that we are asked to help serve. We help with organizations in the ELCA as well as other non-profit organizations that need financial support. We remember our elderly members with cookie boxes at Christmastime. We set up and collect items for school kits and personal care kits for LWR as well as Lily Bags for Crisis Invention. We help collect gifts for the Angel Tree at Christmas.

Lydia Circle meets the first Monday of the month at 1:30 p.m.
Martha Circle meets the first Monday of the month at 6:30 p.m.

WELCA holds a monthly Bible Study on the third Thursday morning
of each month at 9:30 a.m.

A Prayer Chain is implemented through our organization whenever someone is in need of our prayers.

Bethlehem Quilters meet every Satuday morning from January 1 to April 1. The quilters keep busy cutting, sewing, tying, and binding quilts for Lutheran World Relief and other organizations that need quilts. Women and children gather each Saturday for fun and fellowship.
