2015 National Youth Gathering
Young people from Hope United Parish will be traveling to Detroit for
the ELCA Youth Gathering on July 15-19, 2015. Please keep these
young people and their chaperones in your prayers.

RISE UP TOGETHER ELCA YOUTH GATHERING. In Jesus' kingdom there are no firsts and lasts, no winners or losers, no chosen and not chosen, no true believer and infidel. "[God's] kingdom," the wise teacher says, "is not a zero-sum, winner-take-all game of 'us against them,' but a non-zero celebration of all of us together." The ELCA National Youth Gathering is held every three years. In July 2012, 17 Hope Parish Youth, 8 chaperones, including Pastor Linda, attended the Citizens With the Saints Gathering in New Orleans, Louisiana. It was filled with “God Moments” while practicing discipleship, justice and peacemaking. Our service day gave us the opportunity to meet teens who shared their stories of Katrina’s effect on them and their vision for the future. Uplifting speakers, music, workshops and worship opportunities amongst 33,000 plus “Saints” brought us away with a renewed “saint purpose”.
