Hymnbooks

Between our four churches we use four hymnbooks: Elk Creek and Bethany use the green Lutheran Book of Worship and The Other Song Book. Bethlehem and Grace use the cranberry Evangelical Lutheran Worship and With One Voice. Liturgies amongst the churches are the same and all churches use the same settings throughout the church year.

Joyful Noise Choir

Grace has a rich history of singers and organists who have dedicated themselves to providing uplifting music for our worship services. Membership of Grace’s choir has ebbed and flowed throughout the years. The most current Grace Family Choir began in 2000 with Grace members of all ages in an “occasional” choir. The next year it was formally organized with Anne Magnuson as the director. In 2016 the name changed to Joyful Noise Choir. The choir sang at Lenten Services, Easter, Thanksgiving Eve, Christmas Eve and Sundays in-between.

In 2006 the choir blossomed into a joint choir with Bethlehem in Manly following the forming of Hope United Parish.  Members from Bethlehem, Elk Creek, Bethany and Grace form a mini-choir that sings for the YouTube videos produced each week.   For Grace’s 150th Celebration these choir members came together to sing for Grace’s celebration worship service.   While we may be small, our enjoyment at “just plain singing” has brought many hours of “joyful noises” to the congregation and the choir members.

YouTube

Due to the Covid 19 pandemic, an online church service was posted by Pastor Linda and her daughter, Amy Prestholt, the first Sunday of shutdown.   Since then, Pastor has called together an organist, singers, and videographer Clayton Rye weekly to record a Sunday worship service that Suzzanne Rye uploads to YouTube. Besides having faithful viewers from whether across the street or anywhere in the world, other benefits have included the creation of a parish choir and building relationships among the members of the four churches.
